Monday’s press conference was a big step for Louisville men’s basketball after the hiring of Kenny Payne. It was an emotional day for Nolan Smith, who returned to the city where his father became the Derek Smith to serve as a staff member for the program Smith helped win a national title.
But as both Payne and Smith said at their press conference, there is much work to do, and they have already begun the heavy lifting required to build Louisville’s roster for the coming season. As we try to learn more about how Payne plans to construct the remainder of his staff, let’s dive into his first roster — what’s there, what isn’t, what Louisville needs and who Louisville appears to want.
