Louisville enters the ACC Tournament with a Tuesday matchup, the first time in 16 years the Cards will play in the preliminary round of a conference tournament. What a bizarre, forgettable season for so many.
But fret not: The future of Louisville men’s basketball is about to start, with a coaching hire and a resolution to the infractions case all coming in the next six months or so.
The ACC Tournament, however, is an important marker for what’s to come in the search for the next Louisville men’s basketball coach. Until now, much of the work has been the dance — interim athletics director Josh Heird sounding out agents, the search firm doing its due diligence on potential candidates and surely others having conversations to set the table for the rest of the process. And while proxies for candidates and the school may have discussed numbers, contract terms or other issues related to the search, nothing is done yet. Things should pick up very quickly this week as the search gets down to brass tacks.
